Abstract
Recently, the participation of social activities in the elderly welfare field has been increased, and social interest and policy efforts have been demanded. This study intends to understand the experience and meaning of elderly talent sharing activities which are parts of the elderly welfare programs. For this purpose, the FGI method was implemented for a total of 18 people, including elderly people and social workers, who participated in the elderly social activity support programs.
The results of the analysis are as follows. First, the research participants experienced limitations due to the ambiguous identity of elderly talent sharing activities, but they clearly recognized the significance of participation in social activities. Second, the elderly talent sharing experience not only enhances the quality of life of the elderly, but also extends the social relationship through social interaction and extends the social sharing area. Third, the research participants developed a potential talent through the elderly talent sharing activities and found a productive role in the community and became a supplier, not a service beneficiary, in the community.
These results show that the elderly talent sharing activities provide the elderly with the opportunity to participate in society continuously and become an opportunity for social integration. This calls for various policy and practical support to promote participation in social activities including elderly talent sharing activities, and ultimately to improve the quality of life for the elderly.
